Close Up of Corn Field

How it works

  • Silicates are applied to the soil

  • They chemically react with rainwater sequestering carbon dioxide by producing bicarbonate ions and/or soil carbonates

  • The bicarbonates enter the hydrology system and ultimately end up in the ocean

  • In the ocean, the bicarbonates (sequestered carbon) react to form carbonate minerals that settle on the ocean floor for millennia
